Advances
in Understanding the Brain
By Matthew Ferguson
It is remarkable
to me just how far we have come in the last decade and
the incredible potential for the future in how we think
of the brain and neuroscience. Old truths have been
proved false. We can generate new neurons, we do have
brain plasticity and our mental state i.e. stress, does
really affect our physical health by it’s effect on
our molecular biology and much more controversially
it effects our genetic expression. These are all scientific
truths that were once dismissed as pseudo-science by
a sceptical audience.
A
compelling new book ‘The Scientific American
Brave New Brain’ by Judith Hortsman and Scientific
American has
been recently published by the Scientific American group.
It is a well put together compilation of the most up
to date scientific discoveries about the brain and follows
a format of past present and future knowledge.
It
also holds some easy to follow irrefutable discoveries
that meditation and exercise are probably the most significant
keys to good brain health. I therefore happily conclude
that hypnosis and NLP process that help put us in more
positive and resourceful states bring all kinds of “consequences”
and as you know I often joke “some of them are even
good!”
I
hope all the people that have trained with me, and those
of you who have not, will find this an interesting read
and an encouragement to continue to develop your abilities
in hypnotherapy, NLP, coaching, meditation and exercise
because not only will you be doing yourself a power
of scientifically backed good but also be part of a
journey as Buzz Lightyear would say” into infinity and
beyond”!
